Narcissus cavanillesii

DSC_0045 DSC_0047 DSC_0040

N. cavanillesii flowered at October 26, 2013 near El Palmar. I got seeds from pollinating it in 2010 and 2012 with N. assoanus, and allotetraploid jonquilla-  and viridiflorus hybrids. In Daffseek I found no descendants. I am interested to know if other hybridizers were successful in crossing it with  daffodil varieties. Theo

  1. Theo,

Again some fantastic photos. It is really interesting to see different species in their natural environment. Would the ground be dry or wet? What altitude were these growing at?

  2. What a difference!

I visited the same place at November 3 and found nearly the
same number of plants but Narcissus miniatus then. No pics made, sorry.

  3. Dave,

Thank you for your compliments. At October 20 the ground was dry and no N. cavanillesii to be seen. Then it rained 50l per squaremeter and 6 days later I shot the photos. The height above the sea level may be some meters.
