This seedling is flowering now for the first time. It has one third of the chromosomes from Sea Dream (3W-GWW). The two other thirds are from two species. What do you think are these species?

I would guess N. pseudonarcissus and N. cylamineus. Whatever it is the flower is very nice.

I have very little knowledge on crosses but going to guess n.triandrus x n.viridiflorus. probably totally wrong but worth a guess. Must agree with harold though that it is nice.

It’s neat and small with perfect contrast. I would chime in and agree that it is Emerald Sea x triandrus. But I take Harold and Bob’s point.The cup has a pseudonarcissus look. It could get this from Emerald Sea but it looks too long and straight. Also one would expect more florets and a less distinct nodding poise from a triandrus cross. Lastly, it is very different to my (Limequilla x Emerald Sea) x triandrus. So with some reservations about the triandrus like pedicels I think it is most probably Emerald Sea x cyclamineus (or reverse). This also gives a better account of the leaf.

What a gorgeous flower stem. The experts, Harold, Bob and Lawrence have given sage answers so here is one from left field. The leaf suggests apodanthi or cyclamineus to me yet the flower arrangement suggests triandrus and the multi florets have to be considered. The other flower buds and foliage suggest viridiflorus. Knowing the quest for green flowers I will move to centre field and agree with triandrus and viridiflorus also although I’m tempted to throw in a vote for tazetta and triandrus.

Given the blooming season, a fall blooming parent is in there, probably viridiflorus from Emerald Sea. A triandrus looking bloom to me, but where did it get the pseudonarcissus like corona? Not from Sea Dream or viridiflorus, my guess is either triandrus or cyclamineus. I’am going with cyclamineus. So my guess is viridiflorus and cyclamineus for the two species involved.

What a beautiful new variety! Very much a guess – viridiflorus (from Emerald Sea) and N. triandrus subsp. triandrus var. concolor could be the species involved.
I am impressed by all of your answers. The seedling is a cross of N. cyclamineus x Emerald Sea (one third of N. cyclamineus, one third of N. viridiflorus, and one of Sea Dream). I have two of these seedlings only grown up in the greenhouse. Many others outdoors were killed by frost before flowering. I shall repeat the cross next spring with Emerald Sea and some other viridiflorus hybrids too.
