  1. Steve,

I often think that we are too rigid in the definition of boundaries using measurements. Not only is this between minis, intermediates and standards, but also divisions 1, 2 and 3. In most parts of the country your “failed” mini will come miniature in size.

Why do you think this one will breed on? Won’t it be a triploid?

  2. Harold,

The current thinking might be too rigid but the way it is, IS the way it is. Things are either “on” the Miniatures List, or not. There is no ability to say that something is a Miniature in Georgia but not in Maine. It either is on the list or not.

Having observed the ‘Gold Convention’ delisting, the ‘Kokopelli’ debate (which was quite heated and generated some ill will), along with the delisting of many things by the Miniatures Committee, I want NO part of it. I am being as conservative as I can be. That is one nice thing about hybridizing is that one can set personal standards and “march to the beat” of your own personal drummer. Not saying that I’m right or wrong or that anyone else needs to do as I do. It is just the way it is for ME, in what I’m doing. Others can do as they’d like!

As far as fertility, Miniature Div. 1 & 6 seem to retain fertility here. Both parets are seedlings and are also highly fertile. I’ve set seed on this two years now and don’t see any reason it won’t continue.
