My June Journal arrived today and has been read. Thanks Phyllis for looking into the late arrival of the Journal.
Bambi is not a show flower but always delights me as it is the harbinger of Spring in our garden. I take its normal opening as a sign of the season. Our first flower is about to open an event which I usually expect about August 10th. I like Bambi because of its early opening, its ability to survive on neglect, the flowers stand tall above the foliage and its multiplication into a large flowering clump. It brightens a winter garden on a freezing day when snow is only a few miles away.

David,
I’m glad to hear your Journal arrived. I was starting to get concerned since most everyone, including other overseas ADS members, received it a bit earlier than usual. Hopefully, it will arrive sooner the next time. Thanks for your patience.
Greg
Hi David and all ,
The National weather summary for June was in our papers yesterday and may help explain why your BAMBI is very early . Almost all of the country had an exceptionally warm June , — in most areas it was the warmest June on record .It was the warmest on record here in Otaki — the market flowers are about 2 weeks ahead of normal but can , ( and will ) come back quickly with the current cold spell .First snow of the winter on Mount Hector , but it went back quickly this afternoon .Graham Phillips reports that his Waikato flowers are similarly well ahead . Keep warm . ,
Cheers John .
