Flowering now in Canberra

Hi

I have been somewhat remiss in making posts to Daffnet. Our season is well and truly under way with lots of flowers out and lots of hybridising being done. For some unknown reason our miniature pinks have not been colouring up as quickly or as well as normal. A lot of our early miniature pinks are very subtle light pink that is not easily picked up in my photographs. The all apricot is a case in point. The colour is more apparent in the trumpet than it is in the petals. The pink colour in the 1Y-P is more pronounced inside the flower.

I have been doing a reasonable amount of hybridising this year for miniature W-O’s and Y-O’s.

We have flowered our best ever intermediate 1Y-Y flower that is a product of our breeding down program. We have developed lots of seedlings that are suitable for pot cultivation but this is one of best.

Once again some daffodils are flowering much earlier than normal so I will have the opportunity to do some unusual crosses.

I have moved to a macro lense and are just getting the hang of it.
