Hello All my Daffodil friends.
The Western Reserve Daffodil show was held in the wonderful Cleveland Botanical Garden in downtown Cleveland Ohio. It was held this past weekend during the same date as Joe Hamms show in Washington PA. Which I’ll post tonight as well.
I didn’t get the names of the flowers in the larger collections, but did get the 5 stem collection flower names.
We had quite a few 1st time winnings in this show. Kit Walter from the Central Ohio Daffodil Society had 1st time wins with the Quinn, Havens, White & Standard American Bred Collections.
Also, Rebecca Koesters had a 1st time win with the Throckmorton award.
it was a very small show, but quite good and very high quality blooms. Best in show was a fantastic “Ring Fence” exhibited by Naomi Liggett.

Kit Walter won another award, this a once-in-a-lifetime medal. As Sara Kinne told me earlier today,
“When Libby Frey died in 2012, her children gave me her box of daffodil memorabilia. This included her Quinn Silver Medal, in pristine condition. We decided that it should be awarded to a first-time winner in a Midwest Region show, and Kip’s Quinn fit that criteria.”
I remember that Libby and I shared a love for the upper division flowers, so she would also have been pleased that Kip put together a winning lst time Havens award, after taking the White and the Red-White-and-Blue.
LOL ladies his name is Kit Walter.
