Unknown 1W-P Daffodil

Hi,

I bought this from Dr. Reed last year as Chicago Hope 1Y-GYY.  However it bloomed 1W-P.  Does anyone know what it is?  It is a beautiful daffodil, even though this one is not so great.  I had several nice blooms but left them in the garden to be beaten up and frozen by the weather. I’m not looking for Dr. Reed to replace it.  I want a name so I can show it.

  1. Clay, I just searched Daffseek for any 1 Y-P bred by John Reed.  Do you think it could be ‘Goodness Gracious’?

  2. It looks better in real life than in John’s picture as well as mine.  It has the same look as ‘Goodness Gracious’.  :-) Now I will have to order Chicago Hope again and hope that I get 1Y-GYY.

  3. John Reed called a little while ago and said that the flower is ‘Pink Climax’.  In the field, bulbs of ‘Chicago Hope’ went in one direction from the field marker, and ‘Pink Climax’ went in the other.  Apparently when the bulbs were dug, the marker went into the wrong bag.

     

  5. Well, the best part is that I haven’t changed the label in my Garden yet.  If Dr. Reed says it’s ‘Pink Climax’, so it is. :-)
