Narcissus viridiflorus Hybrids

Some viridiflorus seedlings flowered in the greenhouse during autumn 2015. They were grown up outdoors and later on brought to the greenhouse for faster multiplication and for flowering. Only few seedlings developed; most of them were killed by frost. Therefore no selection concerning the form of the blossoms or other  traits could be made.

The green colour often diminishes with the age of the flower. All of them have an intense fragrance. That of Fragrance Rose x N. viridiflorus is an especially good mixture from the flowers of both parents. TS 108 is a 2W-O, TS 124 is a 3W-W.

  1. Yes, a very nice fragrance is passed along in viridiflorus hybrids. The TS 124 x vir. cross has great form for a first generation vir. cross. Thanks so much for posting these.

  2. Very nice, Theo.  Thank you for sharing them.  Too bad about the frost damage.  I’ve had serious damage in an unheated garage, not with N. viridiflorus seedlings, but all daffodils, when the temperature goes down to near 0 degrees Fahrenheit.  And of course the most promising ones get hurt the most. :-(
