Two new miniature seedlings

Arrowhead x Green Seedling 6G-G

I was delighted to find these seedlings in a row flowering for the first time. They are bred out of Arrowhead by a green seedling. Both are miniatures and both with a natural spread of 45 mm and I think that they qualify as short-cupped division 6s. Guess what name I want to reserve for the all green one :-) Hope they survive and more importantly multiply. Their siblings come with two flowers to the stem so I suppose those should go into Div. 12, the miscellaneous group.

  1. Where’s a show when you need one, Harold? January daffodils
of great charm and beauty. But isn’t that what Daffnet is–the ultimate show that knows no boundary of geography or season. And you have two winners!
(And I’m not too sure about this rigid one-bloom-to-the stem edict–

  2. Theo, many, many years ago I received some seed from the late Manuel Limas from several different crosses. They were second generation from (N. viridiflorus crossed with various standards) and then open pollinated. One of the original parents listed was N. viridiflorus x Surfside but I have no idea if that is in the green seedling parentage I used. Maybe it was?

  3. Harold, how long has the little green one been open?  Might the green fade as the bloom matures?  It will be interesting to see if it holds its color.

  4. So far it has been open three days and shows no fading but I expect it to fade somewhat with time.

  5. It is six inches off the ground. I have trouble getting my nose down there? :-)

If I pick it I will test it.

  6. Nice Harold, and they probably will be fragrant. From my experience so far, viridiflorus hybrids pass along fragrance to their progeny.
As far as the name you want to reserve, Green Arrow first comes to mind, but you probably have something more original.
