White Trumpets

Spring has come early by a couple of weeks for some varieties.

The flower not yet registered as Yazjoy opened in July. Unfortunately is is 1-2 mm short of being a 1W-W.

A miraculously nice (for me) miniature white trumpet has flowered for the first time. If its pedigree is to believed it has come from a seedling grown from seeds sent by Leone Low crossed with  a seedling (04_14D x 04_04D) = [(Tracey x cyclamineus) x {(Gayi x cyclamineus) x Peberdy seedling – (Swagger x cyclamineus)}].

  1. If that’s a miniature its a real advance in show quality. Well done Lawrence

  2. Thanks Dave,

I’ve added a picture with ruler. It is a first flower and it does grow in a vase, but the plant is of miniature stature, so I’m hoping it will survive and stay miniature.

I’ve been putting some effort into breeding vigorous diploid white miniatures through out-breeding, including alpestris and poets, so hopefully, one way or another, some good will come of it.

  3. Very good miniature, Lawrence, and no question about it being a division 1 judging by the photos.
