Subject: Leonard’s passing

Friends,

Leonard passed this morning at Good Samaritan.  He had not been feeling good for the last two weeks.  Being Leonard he was asking when he could go home last night.  Really thought he would be there with daffodil advice forever.  I will miss him and his kind heart.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the Oregon Daffodil Society, Leonard Forster and his wife Betty Jean were founders of the Oregon Daffodil Society.  Betty Jean passed away several years ago. If you attended the World Daffodil Convention in Portland in 2000, you might recall that Betty Jean was co-chairman of the daffodil show. If you’ve been watching the videos on DaffTube, you’ll have seen our transfer of the VHS videotape of that convention where Leonard is the narrator. Leonard and his wife were both active growers and showers of daffodils. Steve Vinisky’s miniature 6Y-Y named Bee Jay honors Betty Jean. Peggy Tigner likely will write up a longer tribute to Leonard.
