Herman McKenzie

Herman McKenzie, longtime ADS member and husband of Loyce McKenzie, of Madison, MS died today, November 18, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS from cardiac arrest.

Several ADS members recently commented on Facebook at their pleasure in seeing Loyce at the recent Fall Board meeting in Cincinnati.  Shortly after Loyce returned home, Herman was admitted to Saint Dominic.

Many of you will remember going to the McKenzies home on tour day of both the 1997 and 2011 conventions.

Herman didn’t travel much to daffodil events in recent years, but was always supportive of Loyce’s daffodil activities and was the head of four generations of daffodil growers and exhibitors. Son Kevin, who designed Herman and Loyce’s house on Ingleside Drive, granddaughter Ashley, and now great-grandson Mason are all daffodil growers.

Services will be held at Galloway Memorial Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 21. Condolences may be sent to Loyce at 249 Ingleside Dr., Madison, MS 39110.
