April Snow in Minnesota – 2017 vs. 2018

Minnesota always gets late snows, and the early bulbs tolerate it well.  Normally by early April, I would have scilla and crocuses all over the place, and daffodils well up.  Just for “fun” I am attaching two photos of virtually the same spot in my gardens, right next to the driveway.  One is April 11, 2017 – lots of garden activity!  The temperature got up to the 50s that day, too.  The other photo is today, April 3, 2018.  We already were behind after a very cold, snowy March.  My snow drops are in tight buds, no crocuses or scilla yet, and one lone daffodil leaf up.  In today’s photo, you can see a hint of one daffodil tag.  Sigh…

We certainly are looking forward to Nashville and SPRING!  And don’t worry about the national convention in 2019!  I am very confident we will have a much more “normal” spring, to welcome everyone here May 2-5, 2019!
