Winter bulbocodiums

Tazettas and the jonquil/viridiflorus hybrids like protection, so for me winter is bulbocodium season.

This one may have an intersectional bulbocodium hybrid as a pollen parent.

This one is Gold Step x Viriquilla

The first of this type of hybrid, Gold Step x [Virition x (Viriquilla x Virivest)] flowered in the autumn before its pollen parent flowered, and matured from greeny yellow to white yellow over a couple of weeks.

There are lots of pure bulbocodiums: –

There are some frills: –

And some spills: –

PS Jolene, I have done a draft article on bulbocodiums and will send it to you once I’ve checked it.

  2. Thanks Harold.

It is bulbocodium heaven here at the moment. And the selection that I think is my best 10Y-Y has just opened.
