Dear All,

We were just informed that Peter Ramsay passed away early this morning.

Peter was known for many things, such as daffodils with names beginning with “Cameo”, daffodils named after family and friends, and he had a great appreciation for good wine.

Ben and I enjoyed our outings with Peter and Lesley when they visited us or when we visited them.   Peter was one of those people that when you have met him you don’t forget him.  We first met Peter and Lesley at our first ADS convention Portland Oregon in 2000 and have been friends ever since.

Rest in Peace dear friend,

With much love to Lesley and family,

Ben and Nancy

Truly an irreplaceable loss! For us in the States, he represented New Zealand daffodils!

Peter and Lesley were/are good friends of mine; we had many good times together I first met Peter and Max Hamilton his partner in Washington DC where we took them on a wild tour of the city. Later I met Leslie and their darling granddaughter Amelia when they brought her to the States. They visited with us in Oregon and later in Columbus. Such wonderful people and so much fun to be around. I will miss Peter he was one of the “good guys”.  The daffodil world has lost another legend and is poorer for it.

We always had a lot of respect for Peter and will miss him. The Ramsay family did great things for Daffodils both in the world as well as New Zealand. Steve’s and my deepest condolences to Lesley and the family.

So sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. Such a fun person to be around, a great hybridizer and ambassador for daffodils worldwide. The daffodil world and all that knew and loved Peter will truly miss him.

Peter was the rock on which the NZNDS stood. For so many years he was our thinker and motivator. He stirred the pot all over the world and we are the better for it.

Remember too that he was an education professor and, in more recent times, addressed international organisations  about educational matters. His writings were taught in our teacher training programmes.

Peter was also know for his work with NZ youth. Please see attached link to see his famous creation the wooden board used to plant daffodils without stepping into the planting beds.

Our condolences to Lesley and family.
