A few moments ago Mark Speyer phoned to say that his mother Pearl died on Monday. The funeral is Friday at 2pm. This will be difficult for most of us as we will be heading to the National in Timaru. Messages can be sent to funeral directors Lamb and Hayward.
Pearl visited us a few weeks ago and had absolute confidence that her future was in heaven and was happy to be going there.
Pearl was the daughter of Len Chambers, a well known daffodil hybridizer. Pearl also bred daffodils in her own right. Some of her raising are flowering at the moment and I have arranged to deliver some of these flowers to be placed on her coffin and to be mentioned in the service.
