Cold November

Not much news on olde daffnet.

It turned cold here in New Jersey about the first few days in November and stayed cold – and miserable.  I planted my few daffodils in a heavy coat and gloves.  Last year I planted daffodils over the Christmas and New Years Holiday and it wasn’t as cold.  I’m hoping that this year was the exception and not the rule.  The local NJ weather man was saying that November was 15 degrees colder than normal until Thanksgiving. Than a few warm days made the month only 4 degrees colder than normal on an average.

How’s the weather where you are?

  1. Too hot to work mid afternoon here Clay. Fortunately the bulbs have started to dry off. The paddocks are like concrete. I dig from 6 – 9 in the morning and that’s it. Spend the rest of the day recuperating.

At least, when it is cold you can warm up. It is hard to get cool on a hot day. Air conditioning is not common in NZ.

  2. David, that’s summer for you. In the winter you can put on a coat and work. In the summer it’s hard to strap on an air conditioner when you are out in the garden. J
