ETDS and MTDS shows cancelled

So sorry to add that the Knoxville area and Nashville daffodil shows have been cancelled. Cheekwood is open only for the gardens as the buildings are closed.

Our SE Region extends our wishes for everyone to be safe and keep healthy during this difficult time. Enjoy your bright and cheery daffodils and let them lift your spirits as you walk among them.

  1. As of a day or two ago Cheekwood is completely closed through at least April 19.  So sad as they had just opened the new Children’s Garden (which I have yet to see) and were planning March openings for the re-furbished Japanese Garden and Sculpture Trail, not to mention their big Cheekwood in Bloom (spring flowers) promo.  They are to open Chihuly on April 25.

It looks like Gibbs Gardens about an hour NE of Atlanta is still open.  They have a couple of links from their main page (you must click on the CLICK HERE part of the text), but they are not running the trams and you have to purchase your ticket online.  That’s all the info I’ve seen about the changes.  It would be a long drive from here and back by myself, but I might do it one day if they remain open.

Everyone stay safe and enjoy your daffodils. We’ve been posting photos on Facebook, but we should probably start posting some here, too, for those who are not on Facebook. We have discussed the ADS Youth having their ‘Rapture’ challenge online and that they could post other photos as well and, as Lisa Kuduk pointed out, we adults should be having our own virtual show online to share our blooms. I can’t say I’ll go to the trouble to stage a collection as a few have done on Facebook, but I’m taking photos in the garden and plant to dab a little pollen — a good year for doing that when the rain lets up!

  2. It will be worth it! Food for the soul. (Gibbs Garden)
I went two years ago and loved it and then on to the western museum in
    Cartersville, which is probably closed.
    Treat yourself!
We are so lucky in our quarantine, the weather is beautiful and I live in a
place of lakes, birds, blue skies and a happy dog to be outside.
    Stay healthy. Jackie
