It is with sadness that I advice members of the passing of Reg Cull , Foxton NZ , on Thursday 26 February.
Our immediate thought are to wife Rita and family , 5 children . They had celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary and Reg’s 82 birthday recently on February 22.
Reg had been having respiratory and heart issues for several years . He was just outside his bulb shed when Rita found him ; probably been cleaning and sorting daff bulbs .
He was a Life Member of the N D S and a foundation member of the Central Daffodil Group .
Reg and Rita hosted many Central Group meetings at their home , Hokorawa Daffodils , just off the State Highway 1 , south of Foxton .
They also greatly enjoyed hosting many overseas daffodil tourists over many southern seasons .
They both remember fondly the people and daffodils they met as part of the N Z touring Group to the 2012 World Convention in the U K and Europe .
Outside of his daffs Reg had a wide range of interests and commitments to his community ; Te Awahou Masonic Lodge , Acclimatisation Society, Target and Game shooting clubs .
Above all he was a good family man and devoted husband for 60 years .
As was his wishes , Reg was cremated at a private family service on Saturday .
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at TE AWAHOU LODGE ROOMS , Main Street , Foxton .
Time 1 – 30 pm , WEDNESDAY 4 MARCH . .
Reg had a dream season with his exhibition daffs in spring 2019 , unbeaten on the local show circuit .
His winning bloom of CRYSTAL GEM , at his last show , was a truly superb bloom ; – going out a winner .
He also was very pleased to take Champion Bloom at Rongotea with 12 GAUGE , one of his own registrations and favourites .
R I P Reg .
What a shock. Reg rang me last Thursday to order some bulbs. We had a great chat for around half an hour. He was a great servant of our Daffodil Society and had a subtle sense of humour which I really enjoyed. We will miss him.
