Rijnveld’s Early Sensation

Good morning
Can anyone help Ella May? DaffSeek shows this to have bolder colors than what she has in her image. Thanks

Message Body:

Years ago, I purchased daffodils as ‘Rijnveld’s Early Sensation’ but have concluded that they are not that cultivar. Flowers borne singly are classic large trumpet shape. Perianth opens pale yellow, trumpet somewhat darker yellow. Both fade until entire flower is white. Very sweet fragrance, good multiplier.

Any suggestions as to its name?

  1. Mary Ellen,
Going by your description and only a quick look I’ll
throw up N. Mount Hood 1W-W a historic and wonderful garden cultivar.

  2. I have to support Ian on his quick look.  There is no way it is Rijnveld’s Early Sensation.   I was in Home Depot yesterday and saw them selling 7W-Y as Tete-a-tete.   Can’t trust every lable.

Once Matt mentioned Beersheba I agree with his assessment. I brought similar flowers to a show two years ago and I thought they were Mt. Hood. I was corrected at the time and told they were Beersheba. How easy it is to forget.

  3. It looks like Beersheba, and sounds like how it develops. Lovely photo.
