  1. Very nice Becky, I have some in bloom also. I agree, Yes it is nice to have daffodils blooming for Thanksgiving. I sometimes have Lima’s Green Road in bloom for Christmas. It depends on when I start watering them in late summer. They are very fragrant also. Thanks for sharing. Up date, I checked the ones in the ground yesterday and bloom spikes are up but still in tight bud. So probably will have blooms for Christmas, that is if the 26 degrees F they are forecasting for tonight doesn’t freeze them. As they are in tight bud, they will probably be fine. Lima’s Green Road has survived, grown and bloomed well here in my Zone 7B so far. Winters have been somewhat mild though.

  2. Lima’s Green Road is fertile. Those of you who have it should make hybrids.

  3. Harold, Have you set seed on Lima’s Green Road? I have gotten seed with it’s pollen but have never been able to set seed on it. Believe I have mostly used frozen pollen on it as I don’t have a lot of fresh pollen this time of year. Perhaps, that is the reason of my poor success. As I think back though, have used some fall blooming pollen also. Temperatures are usually cool when in bloom, but have tried on plants in the greenhouse also. In any event I have never set a single seed on LGR. Pods have attempted to form but have never had mature seed. Theo, have you set seed on yours? Interested to know if you hybridizers have set seed on LGR.

  4. I saved pollen from those first blooms and today took photos of another pot with two bloom stalks (2 blooms each) and one more stalk in tight bud. I checked the latest ones I planted outdoors and they seem to like the microclimate as there are a couple of stalks with buds on it as well. The first ones I planted outdoors are more exposed and always blast. This is just south of Nashville, TN in Zone 7a.

  5. I have been assembling information to write a book on Dr. William A. Bender.  Those of you who would like to add a comment or tell a memory to add to the book please do so as soon as possible.  Thank you.
