My own show in NJ

I had an operation on Thursday and am supposed to be three days bed rest so I missed the Washington Daffodil Society Show and Tell as I kept getting sick as I tried to work up some flowers and take pictures of them, however, after two days of struggling with nausea and other problems I was able to do this:

The first one is my seedling 14-262 River Queen X Gold convention and my Rose RibbonThe second one is my seedling 13-23 Goldhanger X Gold Convention.  A worthy little daffodil The third one above is my seedling 17-53 2W-Y. I don’t know what to do with this one I have a 40 seedling of this one.  It is a beautiful garden flower and sometimes there is one that is show worthy. It’s blooms above the foliage, and you can see it a hundred feet away.

Also today I put together a Collection of 5 Div 1.  Back row: Sideling Hill 1Y-Y, Lunar Sea 1Y-W, Tuscarora 1Y-Y. Front Row: Three Oaks 1W-Y, and Intelligence 1W-Y.

Of course I added a miniature collection: Sabrosa 7Y-Y

I had to stop there the nausea was getting me down.  I wanted to add a miniature rose ribbon since I have several candidates in the garden, but just not able to make that trip out there. This is my early early daffodils.  I may post more as I get into mid season and maybe even late season.  We have to something with all the ADS shows cancelled.

  1. Clay your flowers are beautiful I think they like living in NJ. We just had a WDS ZOOM meeting in which different ones showed their blooms…was hard to really see detail but great seeing the people.

The Kuduk’s of Kentucky joined in and Mike had also arranged a couple classes —for practice he said.

Again thanks for sharing. We really need to have a show next year for sure. I am forgetting names. Glenna

  3. Clay, I hope you feel better soon.

You’re right, we have to do something with all the ADS shows cancelled.  Thanks for sharing “your own show in NJ” with us.  And you have some lovely seedlings.  Your 17-53 would make lots of people happy.  Not everyone is looking only for show flowers.

  4. Thank you Mary Lou,
Unfortunately, while I’m stuck inside the house my hybrid daffodils are
blooming away. I need to be out there with them so I can see what is
developing and make notes. This is my last day of bed rest and it’s raining
anyway. Even when I am feeling better, I’m still passing blood from the
operation on my kidneys. I had hoped to improve on that by now. I will be
seeing my doctor again tomorrow, Monday.

My seedling 17-53 2W-Y is Geometrics X Conestoga. It actually opens 2Y-Y
and almost a trumpet. The petals quickly fade to white, sometimes the cup
also fades and late in its life, just before it dies, it’s 2W-WWY.
    Beautiful in the garden.
