I watched the last daffodils melt in the heat this weekend. Three poets a div 3 and a division 7 were the last open this season. Seed set was terrible for the early crosses with only two successful in Oakdale and over 90 % of those attempted in the first month failed. This seedling from Changing Colors X Gasparilla was striking in all of its forms(no seed set with it or its pollen this year). It starts a bicolor the pink starts in the center and moves outward as the flowers matures. White replaces the pink and the flowers is a picotee all white with a pink edge to the petaloids a s the flowers fades. A second flower selected this year is a midseason division 3 out of Estrella it is well formed and very consistent. With the weather settling out and warmer weather we are shifting to weed supression and readying to begin lifting of the stocks.
