Digging Daffodils using a Bench

I had a personal email asking me how can I dig daffodils using a bench and setting down.

Well, it’s easier than standing up for several hours or days digging daffodils.

I generally plant my daffodils in rows of 7 bulbs across on beds that are4 feet wide and 30 to 40 feet long.  I dig one row at a time, sit down on the bench and process the bulbs by twisting off the foliage, shaking the dirt off, putting the bulbs into a mesh bag and labeling the bag with the variety, and color code.  The next step is to dig the next row of bulbs and process them. The foliage is removed from the beds and placed into the trash for disposal and not placed in compost. The processed bulbs are placed in a wheel borrow for further transport to the drying racks under the carport canvas..

This same method can be used it you plant your bulbs in a smaller plot of your garden.  Just process one variety or clump at a time.
