The Last Comment on Spring 2023

This year was a typical daffodil year. I seemed to win a lot of Rose and mini Rose ribbons, however, my standard daffodils took a setback.  Just as they were coming into full bloom, we had a heat wave come up the Eastern Seaboard and my daffodils were damaged beyond repair within hours.  The heat wave lasted two days and melted my blooms and turned my season into mush.  However, Fran and I received over 50 blue ribbons this year, and one Silver Ribbon, while attending six daffodil shows in which one of I had no blooms left to enter. We had daffodil shows last year after COVID, but this year was like a home coming as I enjoyed the shows so very much more.  We attended three shows this year that I had never attended before, and it resulted in seeing a lot of old daffodil friends.  I was surprised at how many of the “legends” of daffodil were in Wheel Chairs, Walking Chairs, and with Walking Canes, including myself. I enjoyed taking photos of some of the winners at each show, I did not try to be Kirby or Tom, just myself.

Only 11 months to go before the next show!
