A Round-up question from a non-scientist

How long after Round-up has been used on a particular area is it safe to plant or replant daffodils there?
Seems like I’ve read it’s biodegradable when it hits the dirt.
Can I feel safe about planting in October where I’ve used Roundup in summer?

  1. Just a little experience from a humble amateur..
      I’ve used roundup in a “hose end” sprayer on the daffodil beds after the foliage has completely died back and not even removed it ! .. I’ve not observed a single loss.

    I’m certainly careful when I do this.

    If you consider glyphosate is used on farms and market gardens prior to planting crops and vegetables we could consider the ground safe for planting bulbs. It is the only chemical I use here and, as previously stated, has seemed safe on emerging daffodil foliage. From the postings we have had on Daffnet it appears that Alf Chappell was right. It may be safe when the sap is going up but dangerous when the sap is going down. Lets face it also, new weeds grow readily from seed where ground has previously been sprayed. It may also be that the true Roundup has additives that make it more potent.
