black spot on anthers

Dear Daffodil lovers .

Let see what power the internet has. I am looking for the following:Could you check of you have any trumpet daffodil with a black spot at the tip of the anthers like they are present in N bujei and hispanicus? and obvallaris?

  1. Would that be on every anther or perhaps just one?  I’ve noticed the later, but would have to look around again to see which ones (if any are out). 

    Its’ raining this morning, so I’m glad I picked flowers for a while last night for the Cincinnati show this weekend.  Some great flowers would have been ruined.

I did notice this in some blooms this season, and was puzzled by it, as the blooms were freshly opened, and I tend to think of dark pollen as a sign of age in the blooms.  Our season is winding down now, and I doubt I have any on the blooms now out, but I will check when daylight comes, and I will be on the lookout next year.  It would be helpful if you’d send us a reminder of your question about February 1 when our season begins.
