Blooming today (non-daffodil)

Seems like a quiet day, so I’ll offer up a couple blooming things found out on the property this afternoon.
Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia).  I’m a bit North of it’s supposed natural range, but believe it to be native here, as is the similar the Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos), the Black prefering low, creekside ground and the giant thorn-bearing Honey, the high hilltop ground.
Our North American Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum), not yet getting its color.  This patch actually came from some seed from Donna Dietsch four years ago and has now formed a nice little colony.

  1. Hi Drew,

Thanks for the photos.  I have plenty of Jack in the Pulpit growing here, so I never thought to spread the seed, but it is good to know that I can send seed to others who might want it.  One has to beat the wild turkeys to the bright red seed clusters that form on thr Jack in the Pulpit.  I have seen them strip a plant clean of the seed.

  2. Dave, I know the seeds go quickly but hadn’t suspected the turkeys, which are quite thick in these parts.  Regards, Drew.
