  1. Thank you so much for posting that, Lynn! The video was amazing! Truly, how lucky are we to live in this day and age that we can see and hear John Hunter out in his NZ daffodil field with Marie in the background?

Speaking of which, how depressing is it to see John Hunter’s field grown flowers looking better than most my staged show flowers?

John, Congratulations on a very successful 70+ year long “career”. Yes, it is amazing that a 13 year old would keep such records! I was once at an ADS bulb auction — this is where we have the printed description of the flowers, who donated them, etc., and the slide show was in the front of the room showing the flowers as they were being auctioned. One of yours came up with the apology that there was no photo with it, yet the bids were the same high amount as others before it. I remember thinking to myself, “That says it all.” That a bulb will go for such a high dollar amount, even though nobody actually knew what it looked like, just that John Hunter hybridized it!

Congratulations again, and my best to your lovely wife and mate,
    Suzy
