Dottie Sable passed away Tuesday

Dottie Sable peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at home at the Traditions in Dallas, TX surrounded by her daughter, Jeanne McClung and some of her Bible Study friends after a final 10 week bout with Cancer which had spread.  She had a kidney removed last year which was malignant. Her doctor said it could return with a vengeance.  In February she complained of major back pain, the cancer had returned and spread.

She stayed a short while in the hospital and returned home with  hospice.

Her memorial service will be this Saturday at 11 am  at the Chapel of the Cross,  located at 4333 Cole Avenue, Dallas, TX.  There will be a reception immediately following the Memorial Service this Saturday at Dallas Country Club.

Her burial will be Friday,  April  28th, at the National Cemetery next to her husband.

She would  have been 95 yrs old this May 14th and was going strong until February, this year.

Her vivacious personality and charismatic energy will definitely be missed.

Respectfully,

Karla McKenzie

  1. Betty and I are so sorry and sad to receive this news. Dottie was an ever cheerful and smiling friend at conventions and when she came to visit N. Ireland and to stay with us.

After a Dallas convention she kindly hosted Betty and some Dutch friends in her Family Bus around Texas – an unforgettable experience. And I well remember when she gave thanks to the Duke of Abercorn on an occasion when he hosted World Convention Guests in his home at Baronscourt Castle – so graciously done in her wonderful Texas accent.

Yes, “Vivacious personality and charismatic energy” puts it so well – and she will be missed by all of us who were privileged to know her.

Alas, yet another old ADS friend has passed from the scene.

  2. I knew how sick Dottie was, from early winter, and yet I was not prepared. It’s like the light has gone out in Dallas, and the entire Southern region. Dottie, you were one of a kind and meant so much to everyone. And who will translate Jaydee for the “foreigners” amongst us?

  3. All ADS members in the West are sad – Dottie was truly the Gold Ribbon of Texas. Remember the Convention and Fall meetings she sponsored: closing the barbecue restaurant downtown, moving its staff and ambience to her ranch, their digging a pit and cooking the meat, and having the complete open-pit barbecue in a tent at her ranch. Also her hosting evening dinners at a fabulous restaurant high in a downtown skyscraper! Only Dottie could manage such treasures!

  4. Dottie was a great Southern Lady, and those of us who knew her were fortunate indeed.  She will be missed.

  5. Dottie was a generous and kind hearted Southern Lady. Fran and I met her and her husband when we were taking judging school in Dallas before the year 2000. Fran has been in contact with her ever since. We miss her already.

  6. Dottie was always the bright light at ADS events; whether hosting or attending; it was a privilege to call her friend; she will be missed by all of us who knew and loved her.
