First Show of the Season.

The Roger’s Garden Daffodil Show, in Corona del Mar, while not an ADS accredited show, does open daffodil season this year and is listed in the ADS journal. This is the second year we put on a show at the Gardens and it was attended by a number of ADS members. There were over 230 stems from 11 exhibitors. Kirby Fong and Bob Spotts supplied some lovely flowers from Northern California. These were driven down by Nancy Tackett and Ben Blake. Sally Snipes brought flowers up from several members of the Julian group near San Diego. Steve Hampson and I put in a non-competitive display of miniatures and small flowers. Best flower in the show was ‘Wyong’ a 2W-Y, one of Kirby’s flowers. It could have won in a larger accredited show. Everyone agreed that we had a fun time.  Lynn Slackman was in the area and so she was put to work judging with Nancy and Ben among others. Below are a collection of Ben’s photos. Additional pictures can be seen on the Roger’s Gardens Facebook page www.facebook.com/rogersgardens/photos.

  1. Harold, thanks for this posting about the show, and Ben’s photos.  I also enjoyed the photos on the Roger’s Gardens Facebook page.  Roger’s Gardens looks like a great venue.  Maybe some shows that are looking for new venues (like ours) need to look into local garden stores.
