NNNX Crosses 1

The pictures show  new seedlings of this spring from the following crosses: Symptom x Matador, Hillstar x Amadeus and Oregon Cedar x Emerald Sea. These crosses have 3 chromosome sets of standard daffodils (NNN) and 1 chromosome set of N. tazetta, N. jonquilla or N. viridiflorus (X) and are therefore  unfertile in most cases.
The seedlings in the pictures were selected not for their beauty but because they are fertile. They possess  two different values for the volume of the pollen grains which lie between 0,00003 and 0,00004 cubic mm  or between 0,00006 and 0,00008 cubic mm. The big ones should be unreduced pollen of the type NNNX, the little ones can be NX or perhaps NN. NNNX and NX pollen are interesting for back crosses with NNXX , crosses with the species XX ( XXXX for N. viridiflorus), or with another diploid species.
