interesting info relevant to the late Meg Yerger

Friends, I have received correspondence from John W. Roberts, 1500 Westbrook Court, Apt 5115, Richmond, VA  23227.  John is the brother of the late Meg Yerger, that many of you knew.  For those of you that knew Meg, I’m sure Mr. Roberts would enjoy receiving a note from you, with a special remembrance of Meg.  Mr. Roberts sent me a page from the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (LGBG) publication, Garden Times, and it is the greeting from the Garden’s Executive Director, Frank Robinson.  Frank Robinson will be our after dinner speaker when we visit LGBG at the upcoming 08 ADS Richmond Convention.  Mr. Robinson’s remarks include information about Meg inspiring her niece, Nancy Roberts, with “poet fever”.  Nancy was involved with LGBG, but died from illness in 1995.  Her parents established a memorial fund, and using that fund, the Nancy Roberts Pope poet daffodil collection at LGBG has been expanding annually.  For those of you attending the upcoming ADS Convention in Richmond, and visiting LGBG, Mr. Roberts hopes you will visit and enjoy this poet daffodil garden, established in memory of his daughter, which was actually set into motion many years ago, by Margaret Roberts Yerger.  And here is a poem written by Nancy Roberts Pope that I thought you would enjoy:

On a Spring Morning

On a spring morning

I found myself dreaming in a sea of Poeticus daffodils.

A windstorm blew without any warning

So I gathered a handful to brighten my house.

I saw at a distance a flock of grouse

Flying and chirping among my daffodils.

The wind died down and the birds flew away

And each little Poet lifted its pretty face to the day.
