Late, late show

Hello John and Central Daffodil Group member,

Congratulations to the Central group for getting a late, late show together.
We could have had a good one here too. There are still some lovely blooms
around. Cape Horn is particularly good here too. Given the lack of shows I
went ahead and pollinated it with Soprano. Didn’t go through my usual
procedure of checking out its breeding record on Daffseek and when I did
look found out it is pollen fertile only! Damn!! So back I went to use
its pollen on several Postles seedlings as well as the aforesaid Soprano.
So now we wait and watch the seed heads to form – we hope. I have had a
better success rate with seed set this year – probably over 80%. Much
better than last year and for 2008-9.
