The Currituck Co, NC master gardeners sponsor our Barco, NC Daffodil Society; without them we would not have a show. Fran and I joined the master gardeners about 4 years ago. For the last three years the President of the Currituck Master Gardener Volunteers was our Daffodil Society Awards Chairman and our NENCDS secretary. This year, when she did not run for office, our Clerks Chairperson for the Daffodil Society was elected President of the Currituck Master Gardeners for 2017. Last year and this year I was asked to “stand” for President and declined with my regrets each time as I felt that running the Daffodil Society was about all I could handle, among other issues.
On December 1, 2016 when the new officers being installed, Fran and I were given the honor of 2016 Master Gardeners of the year for Currituck County, at Barco, NC. They usually award to one person, but with the Master Gardeners Fran and I have become known as the “Bop-si twins” as you can’t have one without the other. We participate in everything the master gardeners do including maintaining the daffodil show.
I thank our master gardener friends for the honor that I feel was more than I deserved.
