Finally we’ve had some rain. Hopefully I will now be able to finish planting. (It is very late!)
Some nice jonquilla are now flowering.
Years ago I selected bulbocodiums that had gnarled coronas with pollen points in them. It seemed to me these might lead to doubles. No luck so far. This one is is lobed – 11a interestingly enough.
Perhaps my nicest green daffodil has flowered for the first time. It is not wonderfully fertile but seems to be adequately so (as judged from sprouting its pollen) . It is 07_06MJ x 01_01MJ.
01_01MJ is Westholme x viridiflorus.
07_06MJ is (Hillstar x Quickstep) x Emerald Sea? – it too is not wonderfully fertile, nor does it have the best form, but it is probably the greenest seedling from that generation of crosses.
