Spring Bulb Auction

Does anyone remember the spring 2017 ADS Bulb Auction?  It seems that there was an email about it with a central place to send all the bulbs that was auctioned.

I feel that I owe a bulb to someone and have no idea as to who it was or where to send the bulb.

I’m sorry to hear that Edie has resigned as ADS Executive Director.  I hope another one is found soon.  I have no idea why she resigned but I wish her the best.

  1. Hi Clay,

Thank you for asking about the 2017 Spring ADS Bulb Auction. I am the person the bulb donors are to send their bulbs to so these can be repackaged into one box and be sent to the winning bidders. Late this week,  I started  sending out emails with shipping information.  We have experienced a horrific heat wave here in the west and I have been worried about safely storing bulbs until all have been shipped.

Yes, its true, Edie resigned at the end of July.  We were fortunate to find a new ADS Executive Director and are currently in the process of transitioning records and inventory from Minnesota to the new location.

Our new ADS Executive Director is Frank Nyikos of Unionville Indiana.  We are very fortunate to have someone with his horticulture experience.  You will see what I mean when you read his article in the September issue of the Journal.  The ADS is still in transition with much of the inventory still in Minnesota. However, Frank is accessible via email at this address (I know this will appear to be converted to the image of an envelope)   title=

I hope this finds you safe from any of the incredible hurricane activity the southeast and southern regions of the U.S. are experiencing!

  2. Nancy,
I didn’t know about Edie until yesterday. I have sent two donations to ADS and had sent them to Edie, both by US snail mail. I am hoping that ADS received both and that eventually I can get receipts.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I’m using webmail because of a problem centurylink.net is experiencing and Frank’s email does not come up on in the box for webmail.

  3. Clay,

Although we are still updating some of our records from Minnesota, we were able to confirm your two donations were received and deposited into the ADS bank account.

I will personally snail mail to you the bulb information you requested along with your receipts for these generous donations.

Our new Executive Director is focused on mastering the complexity of the job in the next few months. Frank is very motivated and once he receives all the ADS financial records and physical inventory, will be able to respond to questions and requests.

  4. Nancy,

For future reference, the quickest way to reach me or send receipts is by email. Even when recently I have been unable to send email, I always seem to be able to receive email.

I seem to be able to send and receive now on Centurylink.net. At least momentarily.

  5. Clay, contact me privately concerning your excess seedlings or other
    bulbs. The merged
LA-MISS group is interested. Thanks for thinking of us. Our show is
scheduled for the first Saturday in March. We would love to have you
    attend. Annette Kahn
