Tête à Tête in the Sierra de las Nieves

In March I made a trip to Spain looking for narcissus species. I saw many different sites and visited also the Sierra de las Nieves near Ronda, where in  different kown places Narcissus hispanicus and Narcissus assoanus grow. There on a dirt track in the mountains my wife saw from the car some clumps of a nice yellow daffodil bigger than N. assoanus. We stopped and I thought for the first moment it could be a natural cross of Hispanicus and Assoanus. But it was Tête à Tête. I think a joker of the daffodil community planted there some bulbs. I have no idea who it was, but I have an idea who could describe it as a new species hybrid,  if he finds it.

  1. Theo,
None of these cultivars/species look like Tete a Tete as we grow it in our country.

  2. Dave,

I didn’t think of you who would describe the hybrid. But you may do it, perhaps as Narcissus x adamsii.

  3. Ah Theo, I like the humour. I could describe it But I doubt that my simple man’s terms would impress the botanical community.
