I can confirm that plans are well under way for the South Island National to be held in Christchurch 24 – 25 September. This show will be part of the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s 150th Jubilee programme.
We plan to hold all meetings and the Saturday dinner in the Canterbury Horticultural Centre. There are plenty of rooms available.
Accomodation:
Ross Spencer, NDS member, is Revenue Manager at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.. Depending on progress post earthquake Ross has set aside some rooms at $125 per night. The Crowne Plaza is city central, about 20 mins walk from the Horticultural Centre (and 2mins walk from the Casino)
I suggest you deal directly with Ross.
The Aalton Motel is closest to the Horticultural Centre and only 5 minutes walk. 24 hour dairy next door. They have 10 units, including some two bedroom ones available. Rates will be slightly higher due to the Rugby World Cup. They would not take pencilled in bookings so you will need to deal directly with them asap. Try www.aalton.co.nz for bookings. Alternatively there is a Best Western Motel in Deans Avenue and the Chateau on the Park as options should you choose.
