2024 Turner-Daffodil Seedling Review

Though I have stopped breeding daffodils,  I am still growing my seedlings.  I have taken time to evaluate my seedlings and ensure they will grow for many years.

My Daffodil patch is small.  I have two previous introductions that bloomed this year which I share below.  After them, I have three seedlings.  I would enjoy your comments about the seedlings–they will help my evaluation of them.

Now–tow of my introductions:  *One is Sunny Side of Wheatland. Romany Red x Rory’s Glen

It is very showy and consistent.

*The other introduction is Carrie Belle. Rio Rouge x Stylish.

The picture I submitted with the registration did not show the orange very well, and the petals are classified as Yellow. There is a note with the registration that in cool weather there could be an orange flush.–Well at my place this year, it had a definite orange flush.  I have a report and a picture from another grower in Virginia who did not have this orange flush.  I guess the amount of orange depends on the weather.

Of the seedlings that I am evaluating–I have three  seedlings to share.

*One is L94-22 Rio Rouge x Coppertone

This seedling bloom is a little smaller than Carrie Belle, but it is appearing to be consistent from year to year.

*Another is L95-63. Irish Nymph x Conestago

It is a beautiful pink.  Slow growing as far as numbers–but consistent.

*A third seedling in bloom is L95-33 Gold Strike x Mountain Music.

It is a small division 2.  Charming, but not as showy as larger flowers of this type.  It is consistent and does multiply.

  1. Thank you for showing us your seedlings, who has your introductions for sale?

  2. John,

I am not able to sell them without a plant dealers license–
BUT being that this — the Hobby trade exchange, I should be able to provide you one nice bulb of Sunny Side of Wheatland, and probably 2-3 of Carrie Bell.
If you are able to help out with postage–about $10.00 that would be appreciated.  Don’t send that until this fall–I will probably ship them late October.
Let me know if you are still interested.
Trust you daffodil season was a good one!!!
