Thanks Keith for your thoughtful reply. New Zealand has a very small population and economy. Records of chilling times would be a very low priority.
Interesting your notes about soil temperatures. In Christchurch we always planted vegetables on the last weekend of October. Now I recommend to people that they plant second weekend of November. Your comments on peaches confirm my thoughts. However colder soil should also result in a later flowering time for daffodils.
