Hi Daffnetters,
We are rushing through spring here at the moment .Stormy weather, gail force winds , a very dry fortnight ,
then buckets of driven rain …Our warmest August day — 21c. and very warm night temps .
Flowers galore , but not many show quality.
Our local circuit starts this Friday with our Otaki Show — hoping the weather settles.
Made time on Friday 28 August to bunch some daffs for our local Daffodil Day stall.
Daffodil Day , always the last Friday in August, is a national promotion for the Cancer Society and is their
big event of the year.Every little town has their stall selling daffs ( if available ) or plastic blooms , cards etc
to a usually generous public as Dd Day is now an established national fundraiser.
My stall for many years has been downtown Otaki , ( no traffic lights or parking meters ), the usual
old dears manning the tables ; usually sold out and tidied up by late afternoon.
Its a good cause and all the local commercial growers are generous in their support.
Do you have the equivalent Daffodil Days in your country and when ??
Cheers John
