GOAL IS NO-SHED CHRISTMAS TREE

A Washington State University professor is trying to breed Christmas trees that shed few if any needles, even when they get no water.  Gary Chastagner is testing firs from around the world and selectively breeding those with the best needle retention.  His goal could be decades away.
