Hi Carl,
If the bulbs sent up leaves, then they are not dead. Leave the leaves alone and don’t cut them while they are still green. After the leaves yellow and whither it is OK to mow or clip them. The bulb needs to rebuild up strength in order to flower, hopefully next year. As long as you have planted the bulb in an area that receives adequate sunlight, the bulb will be able to replenish strength through photosynthesis, and flower for you in the future.
