A big thanks to Loyce McKenzie and your team for an excellent Journal –46 – 3 –with a
great feature on tazettas and in particular , the two current leading hybridists , Bill Welch
in California and Wilfred Hall, just up the road from here in Levin N Z ..
We are very fortunate to have such committed breeders who are restoring the tazetta division
to its former glory and giving us such a long season of these fragrant flowers .
A couble more of — Tahi — flowering in many North Island N Z gardens at the moment ..
Bill mentions their probable pedigree in his feature
”Max grew them from a quantity of seed I sent him one year from Autumn Colours group x various pollens,
the tetraploid paper whites being the only tetraploid pollens used that time .”
They certainly are very vigorous , tall, thick , heavy stems , great heads and pleasant fragrance.
A great start to the season and a nice first vase indoors for the season .
Cheers John
