Picking the best

Mike, I think you have answered your own question. You know what a good Veteran’s Honor looks like so you know when you are looking at a good one. You gained that knowledge through the experience of judging and exhibiting. I received a gold ribbon with a rose at the only rose show I ever entered but I still wouldn’t have a clue what a 90 point rose looks like.

The more we judge the more likely it is that we can pick the best flower within a second of looking at the entries. A less experienced judge would take time to compare flowers before making the same decision.
