Round and stuffed! and determining the gold and white ribbon winners.

Hi, Jim,
I was so impressed with your flowers at Jackson in 2009. Please don’t stop growing and showing! I admit I have tried just about everything legal to primp a flower at least once, but I work full time and don’t have much time to spend on each flower. Also, I’d rather put a lot of flowers in a show so people can see what a gorgeous variety of daffodils are available for them to grow and I’d rather do that than have each bloom I put in be perfect. Yes, I enjoy the competition, but more than that I enjoy seeing all the different daffodils in a show. The national show in California this year was a real treat for that!
Besides, just think, a lot of the more serious exhibitors won’t have daffodils in bloom in time for the Jackson, MS national show next year! ;-> You grow some great flowers and I hope you’ll bring them to Jackson. That’s the good part of moving the national convention and show around the country each year. And, of course, there will also be so many wonderful people to get to know and interesting programs to attend, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the convention and I hope to see you there! All in all, we have a pretty friendly group of people in ADS and on Daffnet, and I think you can understand that even better once you come to a convention and meet some of them in person.
As for judges, every person is different and calls things as she or he see them. Thank goodness, for the sake of an interesting world, that we do not all see things exactly the same. And for me, the fact that the world has so many troubles is one reason I find it so enjoyable to escape for a while with my daffodils and my garden.
Lastly, if you can grow some of the better show flowers (as you do), they don’t require a lot of primping to win top ribbons in a show. I hope you and Chris Bone will both continue to contribute to Daffnet. For the future of ADS we need to know what EVERYONE wants, not just the top exhibitors.
