Several bulbocodiums are in bloom today, ‘Silver Palace’ and ‘Peppermint’, both about a month later than usual.  I began watering later than usual, so I suppose that’s the reason.
Also in bloom is seedling 2008-02-1 (photo attached).  The breeding is N. romieuxii (seed from the RHS some years ago) x 2005-01-02, a gorgeous white  bulbocodium hybrid from seed from Lawrence Trevanion.  (Unfortunately, the white seedling bloomed once, then promptly died.)  I don’t see any evidence that this seedling is anything more than N. romieuxii open pollinated.  There are other seedlings from the cross yet to bloom (but not this year), so there is always hope that one of them will show some influence from the white bulbocodium.
