NE Calif – 3 pictures

These are the babies that were two weeks overdue.  Fri (April fools!), after a long spate of cold weather we had spike to about 80* F so Fri. evening a couple of flowers were just about to open.  Sat. was cooler, but warm and when I came in from chores, nearly all were open on this bed (near a building so it is warmer than the rest of the yard).  They were all facing south as if ready to march off.  Being dark, I did not take a picture thinking the color would be off and planning to take pictures first thing in the morning.  Overnight it froze!  I came out to see one big droop!  Thankfully most are straightening up though they do not seem to be as tall as previous years.

I do not know when these bulbs were planted, but I figure they are at the least, over 30 years old.  We have lived here 25 years.  This was the summer home for the previous owner, but was rented for 5 years before we bought because the lady of the house died of cancer. I don’t know the time between her death and the renting, so the bulbs could be much older than 30 years.  Does anyone recognize the variety?  There are some other interesting ones from the same time period that have not opened yet, including a white one.  When they do open I’ll send a picture.
