Hi Daffnetters ,
Posting the first trumpet daff for thenew Kiwi season .
Also casting a positive vote for more photos on daffnet .
Please share the photos and equally as important , share the knowledge .
The very rough daff is J F M sdlg 96 – 12 ..
Unfortunately the 96 sdlg book is long lost but know the cross is from 2 seedlings .
One side is Titch x Malvern City , the other is a Toorak Gold sdlg .
I,ve just had an enjoyable , long phone session with another Kiwi cutflower
grower Graham Phillips , about 200 miles north in the Waikato , Ramsay territory .
He had rung to say that he had this seedling , just breaking bud .Also a couple
of his own seedlings approaching goose neck stage .
I had taken my photo in April – last day , but very important for bragging rights ..
We then discussed what was the next stage we could take the early genes in this
flower to ; we both recalled the daffnet photos from Harold of his trumpet by
Emerald Sea crosses , shown on daffseek , also with some breeding details ..
Both of us have Emerald Sea , either in bud or flower ..
We then both enthused over Jasons great photo of John Reeds superb 1 Y – O
We had both gone to Daffseek to check the breeding .
I,m sure many others had done the same .
Daffnet photos and knowledge shared .
We then covered a range of other flowers we had seen on Daffnet , from shows
in USA , U K and Ireland .
We were both very appreciative of the time the photographers had spent to share
flowers we would never otherwise see .
As was previously noted , often the slowest part is checking and posting
the names and details — but they certainly help .
So a strong plea for more photos , from more shows and more regions and with
details and points of interest if possible .
Share the knowledge and the photos .
A big thanks to all that have made the effort .
And once again , it appears that the Waikato is having another late season .
Cheers John .
